Skills for College - Values for Life

At Bishop Verot Catholic High School, one of our top priorities is your child’s success and, in our Student Services Department, we ensure each student is equipped with the tools and resources to do just that. Whether meeting with students individually, through class presentations, or small group counseling, our ultimate goal is to help make each student’s high school experience more meaningful and enjoyable while helping them to reach their goals that are critical for college, career, and life.

Using a state-of-the-art College and Career Readiness Technology Program called Naviance, we have created a comprehensive 4-year plan in which our primary focus is making sure all students are confident in their current and future endeavors.

Our primary areas of focus are:

College Counseling: Our counselors work closely with students and parents throughout the college application and selection process. We help students identify and apply to colleges that meet their needs and help prepare them for success. Students are offered as much assistance as they need while being encouraged to take personal accountability in the process.

School Counseling: With a focus on social emotional learning (SEL), our counselors are responsible for delivering developmentally appropriate activities which supports the mission of the school helps students in meeting the challenges of everyday life. They help ensure equitable academic, career and social/emotional development opportunities for all students through individual counseling, topic-specific curriculum classes, and collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators, and community resources.

Academic Advising: Our Academic Advisor, Learning Services Coordinator, and school counselors take an active role in helping students choose appropriate, yet challenging classes, while meeting all of the necessary graduation requirements and preparing for success in college. We use a variety of methods, such as monitoring student grades, assisting students in completing a 4-year Plan, and helping students to understand how grades are calculated, so they can achieve at the highest level possible.

Learning Services: The Bishop Verot Learning Services Department is designed to fulfill the goal of Catholic Education by helping all children reach their full potential intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.  It provides specific opportunities for students with special learning needs to reach their maximum potential.  To this end, positive support is provided through the collaboration of parents, students, and teachers.

"Life isn't about finding yourself, it's about discovering who God created you to be."
