Bishop Verot High School is pleased to announce their new Head Football Coach, Mr. John Mohring, who will lead the Vikings beginning with the Spring season. Coach Mohring has served on the Viking coaching staff as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the past three seasons serving under Head Coach Josh Vogelbach. Coach Mohring, who has coached at Valdosta State College, Arkansas State College, and Tusculum College returned to Bishop Verot, his alma mater, in 2017. He played professionally as a free agent for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Buffalo Bills following the conclusion of his collegiate career at Georgia Southern.
Of his new opportunity, Coach Mohring shared, “I am truly blessed to serve as Head Coach at Bishop Verot and grateful to have the opportunity to build on the success established by Coach Vogelbach. I look forward to continuing to work with the administration and the athletic department to build our football program and enrich the lives of our young athletes. Go Vikings!”
On the role change, Coach Vogelbach had this to say, “The past three years as the head coach at Bishop Verot High School have been a blessing. I am grateful I have the chance to hand it over to a great friend John Mohring. He deserves this more than anybody I know and is the guy to take this program to the next level. I look forward to continuing as the Offensive Coordinator and helping Verot get to where it needs to be.”
Bishop Verot Athletic Director Jason Baumgardner offered “It has been an honor to work with Coach Voglebach for the past three years. He is a man who truly understands the Bishop Verot culture and has guided us to be one of the top programs in the area. The Verot Family is ready to welcome and support John Mohring as the new Bishop Verot Head Football Coach. A large part of the success of our football program is due to his leadership as the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach. I look forward to getting to work right away with Coach Mohring for the 2020 Viking Football Season."
