Physical Science Students Create Compounds

Mike Recca '11 and Brian Morrison '11 watch an exothermic reaction of the elements of sulfur and iron. The two elements are mixed and heated to form the compound of iron sulfide. If the reaction is carried out correctly, the iron will not separate from the sulfur when a magnet is held close by as a new substance has been created.
