Application Process

Prospective Freshman Application Process

2026-2027 School Year

As part of the application process, your student will be required to take the Freshman Placement Exam date. The exam will be offered on Saturday, November 1st and Saturday, November 15th and will be held on the Verot campus from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

*A make-up exam will be offered on Wednesday, December 10th from 8:00 - 11:30 a.m. The make-up will not qualify for the DeSales Scholarship.

To begin the process, please complete the online application for the applicable school year. There is a non-refundable $75 application fee collected at the end of the application process. Please plan to select your preferred Freshman Placement Exam date as part of the application - the application will serve as your registration for the exam as well.

Please save your login information to submit additional information later.

*For parents who already have a student attending Verot for this school year, please use your

existing Family Portal account and create a new application.

All freshman applicants are required to take the High School Placement Exam as part of the application process.  No additional registration or fee is required, however, you must have a submitted application on file prior to attending the exam.

  • This is a national high school exam written by Scholastic Testing Services. The exam covers five areas: verbal, language, reading, math skills, and quantitative math (math aptitude).
  • Test scores help to evaluate incoming freshmen and will be used to determine placement in college prep, honors, and AP classes.
  • Test scores will also be used to determine eligibility for the DeSales Scholarship (only students taking the test on the two fall dates are eligible for this scholarship).
  • There is no testing fee.
  • If applying after the Fall Placement Exam dates, there will be monthly testing dates offered as needed.

*Extended time accommodations are now offered to qualifying applicants. Applicants must provide a psycho-educational evaluation report with a documented learning disability (completed within the past 3 years) or a current IEP report to the Learning Services Coordinator at karen.ward@bvhs.org at least ten days prior to testing. Extended time testing will only be offered on limited dates throughout the school year.  Applicants with a current 504 accommodation plan must also have the above documentation - a 504 plan alone will not qualify a student for testing accommodations.

Additional Documentation Required:

  • Unofficial copy of your child’s grade reports from sixth, seventh, and eighth grade (through the most recent quarter grades*).
  • Records should include the following:
    • Courses taken with completed grades given/credits earned*
    • Standardized testing (FCATs, ITBS, Stanford Achievement)
    • Documentation of any learning challenges/disabilities, including psycho-educational testing and/or IEP or 504 plans, if applicable
      • Learn more about our Learning Services Department, including admission requirements and accommodations offered, at https://www.bvhs.org/admissions/educational-support.
    • Copy of Certificate of Birth
    • Copy of the State of Florida Immunization and Physical forms* (Form 680 and the State of Florida School Entry Physical Form)
      • Bishop Verot does not accept Religious Exemptions for immunizations. All applicants must be fully immunized according to the State of Florida requirements (visit https://www.bvhs.org/parents/clinic for the list of required vaccinations). Medical Exemptions are accepted if filed with Florida Shots.
    • Statement of Discipline from middle school administrator (this may be a school-generated incident report or a personal letter from a counselor or administrator)

Students currently enrolled in our partner middle schools do not need to submit additional documentation as records will be sent directly from the middle school: St. Andrew, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Michael Lutheran.

*We understand eighth grade records may be incomplete. A copy of the most recent eighth grade report card available will be sufficient.

This information is necessary before an admissions decision can be made, and would be helpful if received prior to the date your child is tested.

Please submit all required documentation within the online application or directly to the Admissions Office. Admission decisions cannot be made until all required documents have been received.
